Kerala Rains Claim 42 Lives

Kerala Rains Claim 42 Lives:- South Indian state Kerala continues to battle with the weather and the torrential downpour lashed the state claiming 42 lives in various rain-related incidents and floods, landslides. Over a lakh have been moved to relief camps said the officials. Twenty people have been killed in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts, 9 people were killed in Wayanad. A total number of 988 relief camps have been set up by the state government and 1,07,699 people have been shifted to the camps. Among them, 24,990 people are in Wayanad camps.

Many people are feared trapped in the recent landslides that took place in Wayanad and Malappuram districts. The rescue operations are still on and with rain continuing its downpour, it is quite tough for the operations to continue. Over 1000 people are rescued from the tea plantations of Puthumala at Meppadi in Wayanad. A portion of the hill came crashing down in this region said Wayanad Sub Collector NSK Umesh.
