Bengaluru Graduate Dies in a Climbing Accident at US State Park: A Bengaluru man got killed in an accident while he was climbing Oregon state park on Saturday as per the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office. The Bengaluru graduate was found to be Chaitanya Sathe and he roughly fell from 100 feet near the access to the Lower Gorge at the Smith Rock State Park, confirmed the authorities. The accident took place at 9.40 AM and the rescue officials rushed to the spot but Chaitanya was found dead at the site. The primary investigation revealed that Chaitanya tripped down and fell about 100 feet while coming down in the state's park.

The park was located at 3000 feet in elevation and it covered 650 acres. Chaitanya is working as an engineer in Intel in Hillsboro, Oregon and his family lives in India. He studied is Bachelor’s degree at University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering and his Masters at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Chaitanya is also a researcher with Theoretical and Computational Biophysics Group at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His climbing partners did not locate the accident and later two climbers responded and spotted Chaitanya pulseless. A campaign was launched to raise funds to send the mortal remains of Chaitanya to India.
