ED Allowed Arresting Chidambaram From Tihar Jail:- Former Union Minister P Chidambaram is facing charges of corruption in INX Media case and is residing in Tihar jail from some time. Just two days before the judicial custody of P Chidambaram coming to an end, A Delhi Court today asked the Enforcement Directorate to arrest him and take him into custody if needed. Special CBI Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar allowed the Enforcement Directorate to go to Tihar Jail and interrogate P Chidambaram on Wednesday. The court also clarified that he can be arrested on the spot if needed.
"It's not of the dignity of this person that you interrogate and arrest him here in public view," the court said. Chidambaram has been remanded till October 17th in the INX Media Case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The 74-year-old has been in Delhi's Tihar jail since September 5. CBI officials completed questioning him in the case. He submitted that the first information report (FIR) was registered by CBI and ECIR was registered by Enforcement Directorate (ED) are based on financial transactions. INX Media received overseas funds of Rs 305 crores in 2007 when Chidambaram was the Finance Minister.
