Govt Raises Excise Duty On Petrol And Diesel:- The government of India today announced the hike in the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 3 per litre. When the whole country is looking towards a price cut in petrol and diesel, this came as a shock for the whole nation. The special excise duty on petrol was hiked by Rs 2 to Rs 8 per litre and for diesel, it is increased by Rs 4. The road cess has been increased by Rs 1 for petrol per litre and Rs 10 for diesel per litre.

This will directly increase the prices of petrol and diesel in the country. Most of them felt that the prices would see a decline after there is a huge fall in international oil prices. The prices of petrol and diesel have been frequently increasing in the country which turned out to be a burden for many. The people are criticising the Centre for the surprise move at this time.
