Kashmir Gunfight: Burhan Wani's Successor Riyaz Naikoo Killed:- The border state Jammu and Kashmir is busy with encounters on a regular basis after several terror organizations and groups are planning attacks. The security forces today killed top Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo in a gunfight. The incident took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. Riyaz Naikoo is named as the successor for Burhan Wani and he was carrying a reward of Rs 12 lakhs on his head. Three encounters took place in just a day in Pulwama district and Riyaz Naikoo's death is a major blow. The mobile and internet services are suspended and the curfew is imposed in the Kashmir valley today.
The state is under the surveillance of the army forces. The restrictions are imposed as security measures. Earlier, there were reports that Riyaz Naikoo was one of the trapped militants. Kashmir Police, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) carried the operation. The fire broke out early today and the battle took place for hours. One militant was killed in one more encounter that took place in Krew area of Pulwama district. More than a dozen families have been living in the region in which the encounter took place. Over 75 militants have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir this year.
