Sonia Gandhi to Continue as Congress' Interim President:- The All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting took place today and all the senior congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were present. The party's interim Chief Sonia Gandhi asked the party to finalize the Chief to lead the party. In the Congress Working Committee meeting, Sonia Gandhi revealed that she decided to step down but she was asked to continue as the Chief for time being by the senior leaders. Some of the Congress leaders, ex-ministers and MPs wrote to Sonia Gandhi demanding a change in the leadership for the party.
Some of them wanted Rahul Gandhi to take the oath and some others demanded a new face. The Working Committee meeting concluded after seven hours and Sonia Gandhi decided to continue as the interim president for six more months till the new Chief will be elected or finalized. Sonia Gandhi said that she is hurt but she wanted everyone to forget things and work together collectively. Congress leaders wrote to Sonia Gandhi that they have complete faith in her leadership but there are some concerns in the party and it is for the betterment of the organization.
