Eluru Mystery Illness: Tally Crosses 450:- Hundreds of people in Eluru, West Godavari district rushed to hospitals after outbreak of a mysterious disease in the city. The total tally of the impacted reached 450 as of now and the number is slowly increasing. Multiple teams of experts from premier scientific institutions of the country are on the job to trace the real reasons behind the mystery illness. There are talks that the infection caused due to the organochlorine substances. A team of expert doctors from AIIMS, New Delhi are on the job. The poisoning started in the one-town region of Eluru and is spread to adjoining rural parts of Eluru along with Denduluru.

A total number of 263 people got discharged and one person passed away. A total number of 17 patients are referred to Vijayawada and Guntur hospitals for better medical facilities. All the admitted patients complained of epilepsy, forgetfulness, anxiety, vomiting, headache and back pain. BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao suspects that organochlorine substances is the reason for the mysterious disease. He said that the people have consumed contaminated water. Experts from National Institute of Nutrition and the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad reached Eluru and collected various samples. The samples of water and milk are sent to Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology in Hyderabad.
