AP High Court Cancels the Schedule of AP Local Body Polls:- The drift between the government of Andhra Pradesh and the state's Chief Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is not stopping anytime soon. Both the parties have approached courts to challenge each other. When the government was ready to conduct the local body polls in the state, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar was against the move citing coronavirus as the reason. This decision was appreciated by many and now when Ramesh Kumar is in plans to conduct the polls, the government opposed the decision. The Andhra Pradesh High Court today shocked the Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar against the local body polls saying that this would not be the right time to conduct the polls.

The High Court wanted the schedule of the local body polls to be canceled in the state as the country is gearing up for the distribution of the coronavirus vaccine. The State Election Commission has not undertaken an objective decision in this matter. AP Government is keen to conduct the local body polls only after Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar steps down from his position as the State Election Commissioner. AP Government filed a petition in the High Court which came for hearing today. The government made it clear about the vaccine distribution and the local polls would hamper the distribution plans in Andhra Pradesh.

The AP High Court reversed the decision of the Election Commission. There are talks that the State Election Commission is expected to approach the Supreme Court in this matter.
