Three Government Agencies to Probe into SII Fire Accident:- Serum Institute of India happens to be the largest vaccine manufacturer of the world and the premises are spread across 100 acres. The whole nation was left in shock after the fire broke out in SII yesterday afternoon. Some top officials from the fire wings of three Maharashtra government agencies have been asked to probe into the matter. The fire accident killed five people. The heads of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) will probe into the matter.

Five contract labour died in the fire accident in a five-storey building that caught fire in the premises of Manjari. The top two floors of the building are completely damaged and they are under construction. They are located in the SEZ area of the premises. Devendra Potphode, Chief Fire Officer, PMRDA said that the authorities will investigate the matter and will submit a report to the government of Maharashtra. The cops registered an accidental death in Hadapsar police station. The primary investigation said the fire accident took place because of a mishap in the construction.

A team of forensic experts reached the spot and they are conducting the probe in the incident. The accident took place in one kilometre away from the Covishield vaccine manufacturing unit of SII.
