Telangana Government orders pause for second dose of Covaxin:- The second wave of coronavirus is leaving the country sleepless and when the government is trying hard to get a control in the number of cases, the spread turned out to be huge. The only way to control the cases is through mass vaccination but there is a huge shortage. Several people who received the first dose of vaccination in the country are yet to receive the second dose of the vaccination due to unavailability. On Sunday evening, the Health Department of Telangana announced that they paused the second dose of vaccination for Covaxin as there is no stock available in the state. G Srinivasa Rao, the Director of Public Health announced that there is no stock for Covaxin and they are yet to receive the doses from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
There is a delay in the vaccination for all the people who are aged above 45 for now. The Health Department will resume the vaccination process for Covaxin once the stocks are available. The state also stopped vaccinating the people aged between 18 and 45 as there are lot of people above 45 who are yet to take the vaccination shot for coronavirus. Telangana government has been in plans to vaccinate close to 10 lakh people on a regular basis is just vaccinating 50,000 people as there is huge shortage in the vaccinations. As per the records, a total number of 56,25,920 doses of vaccination are acknowledged by the government of Telangana.
The pharmaceutical firms have now received bulk orders from the Centre and the state governments about the vaccines and it would take 2-3 months for the requirement to be met. Telangana Chief Minister KCR urged the Centre to immediately arrange the vaccine doses to meet the demand.
