Telangana Government To Promote Oil Palm Cultivation:- Telangana state is on the top when it comes to investments. KTR is busy and is meeting the officials and heads of various firms who are keen to invest in the state. Malaysia's oil palm firm FGV Holdings expressed their interest to set up a processing unit in Telangana's Siricilla. The representatives of FGV Holdings met KTR yesterday and discussed the proposals. KTR said that there are several opportunities for the cultivation of oil palm in Telangana. N Satyanarayana who led the delegation said that if the farmers are interested in large scale cultivation of oil palm, the agriculture would be more profitable. Thousands of people will also receive employment opportunities. KTR received an invitation to Malaysia to examine the cultivation of oil palm.

KTR promised to fly to Malaysia along with the Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy. "The Telangana government has been encouraging farmers to take up oil palm cultivation as an alternative to paddy. I thank the delegation for the offer and I wanted FGV Holdings to set up an oil palm factory along with a processing unit and a nursery. To increase the irrigation facilities in the state, the farmers should hunt for alternate commercial crops. There is huge demand for edible oil in the country. India is importing palm oil worth Rs 70,000 crore every year. 80 lakh acres of oil palm cultivation should be taken in India to meet the demand but the cultivation is just 8 lakh acres. Telangana government is now in plans to promote the cultivation of oil palm in the state". Oil palm will fetch Rs 19,000 per tonne and an acre can produce 15-10 tonnes.
