Havoc In Tirupati Due To Heavy Rains:- A heavy downpour in the temple town Tirupati left the city in floods. The rains are caused due to the depression in the Bay of Bengal and normal life came to a standstill. The two ghat roads that are leading to Tirumala hill have been closed for traffic because of the floods and the landslides. The ghat roads are rushed with water at few places and the traffic is expected to be restored today evening or tomorrow. The pilgrims on the hill are stranded for today. All the people living in the low-lying areas witnessed floods and some of the houses were completely flooded. The movement of vehicles was completely disrupted and several colonies are left without electricity from yesterday.

Traffic on Tirumala Bypass Road, Mangalam-Karakambadi Road, Leela Mahal Junction and SV Zoo Park-Cherlopalli Road came to a halt. The railway underpasses in the city are submerged and the commuting got suspended. The Government Maternity Hospital in the city is flooded. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rains for the next two days and a 24*7 control room was set up by the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT). The needy can reach the control room at 0877-2256766. As per the update, there are 23 landslides on the ghat road and 15 trees were uprooted. As the roads to the Tirumala hill were closed the darshan of Lord Venkateswara was stalled. Several flights to and from Tirupati are canceled and the operations are expected to resume today.
