70 Percent of the New Cases are of Omicron Variant in Telangana:- The entire nation witnessed a sharp rise in the new cases of coronavirus in the last one week. Maharashtra, New Delhi and Karnataka are the most impacted states of the country. The new cases in Telangana too increased and more than 1000 cases are reported on a regular basis in the state. The new cases were less than 100 in the last week. The Telangana Health Department revealed that close to 70 percent the newly reported cases are of the Omicron variant. Dr G Srinivasa Rao, the Director of Public Health informed the news through a press conference.

"We have all the resources in the state for now and the restrictions are imposed when the positivity rate is more than 10 percent. The hospitalization too is low and we will impose lockdown when the hospitalization reaches 40 percent in Telangana. People should be careful and extra cautious and strictly wear facemasks and follow social distancing guidelines for sure. As there is a community spread in Telangana, we stopped publishing the details of the Omicron variant in Telangana. As the cases are surging, it is imposing to sequence all the samples. The treatment is the same for all the variants" told Srinivasa Rao.
