Telangana announces complete ban of private practice for Doctors:- The government of Telangana has been in plans to ban the private practice of doctors in the state and it would be applicable for all those who are taken through direct recruitment. All the doctors will be taken from non-teaching side from the notification issued today and they will not be allowed to practice privately. GO Ms No 56 has been issued by the state's Health Minister T Harish Rao. He said that the private practice will be banned for the newly recruited posts. Several amendments are made for the GO for the Special Rules for the Telangana Medical Education Service Rules issued in GO Ms No 154 that was issued in May 2002.
Earlier to this, the government of Telangana asked the doctors to spend at least one night in a month at the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) as per the orders from the District Medical and Health Officers (DM&HOs). This will improve the quality of medical care and also highlight the limitations in the medical system in the state. Health Minister T Harish Rao said that this would send a positive sign for the people and they would prefer to visit a PHC than private hospitals that are quite expensive. The new move of government doctors not allowed to practice in private hospitals will make them focus more on their work.
