Narendra Modi promises 10 lakh jobs in 18 Months:- The Indian government announced to recruit 10 lakh people in several departments of the Central government and ministries in the next 18 months. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the news saying that the government of India is on a mission mode. The announcement came 4-5 months before the government again seeks a mandate from the people to return back to the power. "PM @narendramodi reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Government in mission mode in next 1.5 years" told the office of the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister has been focused on filling up the vacancies quickly and the process has been initiated. Every Ministry and Department in the Centre has been asked to submit the number of vacancies and the sanctioned posts. Modi has a long meeting with the Secretaries of all the departments in April. The opposition slammed the Centre about the vacancies after which the government got alerted. There are lot of vacancies in Railways and they would be filled up very soon. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State for Personnel told that there are 8.72 lakh vacancies in several departments of the Centre on March 1st 2020. Out of the 40.05 lakh employees, 31.32 employees are in the position at that time.
