Six Arrested in the Rape and Murder of Sisters in UP:- Two minor girls have been raped and killed in Uttar Pradesh and this news created a sensation across the country. Six people have been arrested in this case and one among them have been killed in an encounter. Both these girls belong to a scheduled caste community. Both these girls were found hanging for a tree in the limits of Nighasan police station in Lakhimpur Kheri district in Uttar Pradesh. SP Lakhimpur Kheri Sanjiv Suman informed the details to the media and he said that five have been arrested and they are in their custody. He said that Sohail and Hafeezul Rehaman raped and murdered the girls. Junaid was shot in his right leg and was killed in an encounter.

FIR has been lodged against the other five accused under Indian Penal Code sections 302 (for murder), 323 (for voluntarily causing hurt), 452 (for criminal house trespass), 376 (for rape) and Sections 3 and 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO). The family members and the villagers staged protests at the Nighasan crossing. The mother of the girls alleged that three youngsters came on a bike and abducted the girls. The government of Uttar Pradesh has been facing criticism over a series of rape incidents that took place in the recent months. The opposition parties slammed the government for the increased henious crimes against women in the state. The girls were abducted in broad daylight.
