Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asked the party leaders and supporters not to get panic over the ongoing Income Tax raids. He said that the Central agencies are behest of the Centre and BJP leaders. They are in plans to harass the TRS leaders through IT raids said KCR."BJP is keen to poach our MLAs and they are mounting pressure through the Income Tax raids. Do not panic over the raids. I assure legal and moral support from the party. The raids on Malla Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Vaddiraju Ravichandra are attempts to harass our party and the leaders" told KCR. The Chief Minister spoke with several ministers over the phone and inquired about the raids conducted on Malla Reddy yesterday. He also held a meeting about the killing of a forest range officer by the tribals over podu land issue.
More than 50 teams of Income Tax officials rushed to the residences and other properties owned by Malla Reddy yesterday. Rs 5 crores in cash along with some crucial documents were recovered by the officials. After raids were conducted on Malla Reddy, several leaders and ministers rushed to Pragathi Bhavan and Telangana Bhavan to discuss the issue. KCR is said to have given moral support for the leaders. There are reports that Malla Reddy and his family has evaded taxes and allocated seats in medical and engineering colleges. Malla Reddy and his family owns educational institutions, a university and they have invested big in real estate firms. TRS and BJP are not in good terms from a long time and KCR also announced that he would soon make his debut in national politics. He updated the party's name from TRS to BRS recently.
