Nitin Gadkari announces Crash Barriers to reduce Road Accidents:- Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways issued a notification to replace all the road rails with crash barriers on all the new and existing bridges. Nitin Gadkari presented the figures of the road accidents. The total number of accidents that took place in 2020 were 3,66,138 and more than 3,48,279 were injured in the accidents. The total deaths in 2020 are said to be 1,31,714. A total number of 4,49,002 accidents took place in the year 2019 and 4,51,361 people got injured in these accidents. To reduce the number of road accidents, Nitin Gadkari ordered crash barriers and he said that the numbers are expected to come down by 2024. "Annually five lakh road accidents are happening and more than 1.5 lakh people are getting killed every year because of the road accidents. The government has spent Rs 25000 crores to remove all the black spots" told Nitin Gadkari.

"The Indian government is also workin on a Bharat New Car Assessment Programme that is the Indian version of Global NCAP crash test program. This will be based on the latest version of GNCAP tests. Ratings will be given to cars based on the outcome of tests. This is a part of the global initiative #SaferCarsForIndia" told Nitin Gadkari. The new notification was issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The notification will be implemented for all the bridges with 2,4 or 6 lanes.
