AP High Court's Stay on the construction of houses for poor:- Houses for the poor program in Amaravati region were halted by the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. On July 24th Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan laid the foundation stone for the construction of 50,000 houses in the R 5 zone of Amaravati following SC orders. Farmers of the Amaravati zone approached the High Court against the state government's action for proceeding with the construction by keeping the HC orders aside.

The state government continued the construction of houses under the central government housing scheme. Farmers and the Dalit Bahujan Welfare Association of Rayapudi have approached the apex court of the state for the cancellation of the housing sites issued to 50,000 poor families in the R5 zone.

Andhra Pradesh government has started the construction after seeking permission from the Supreme Court. Now the program ‘Pedalandiriki Illu’ (houses for poor) was about to under go in the regions of Guntur and Vijayawada.

Three bench of justice DVSS Somayajulu, Ch Manavendranath Roy and Ravinath Tilhari stayed in the construction on Thursday.

The government says that the opposition party is wantedly creating legal hurdles for the construction of 50,793 houses, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1,370 Cr. The construction was about to take place in 25 layouts and was suppose to provide to the needy women. Each house construction was estimated at Rs2.70L.
