YS Sharmila officially joins Congress:- YS Sharmila, the daughter of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, made a significant political move by joining the Congress party. Along with her decision to join the Congress, she also announced the merger of her party, YSR Telangana Congress, with the Congress party. Sharmila expressed her willingness to take on any responsibility given to her within the party.
The official joining took place in the presence of Congress party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and former party president Rahul Gandhi. Sharmila praised the Congress party, highlighting it as the largest secular party in the country that serves and unites all communities and sections of people.
Earlier, after a party meeting in Hyderabad, Sharmila had hinted about a crucial announcement to be made in Delhi after meeting the top leadership of the Congress, including Mallikarjun Kharge. Sharmila, the younger sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, expressed her happiness in being part of the Congress party's victory in Telangana. In the recent assembly polls, she had extended her support to the Congress in order to end the alleged corrupt and anti-people rule of the BRS led by K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Sharmila also shared that it was her father's dream to see Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister of India, and she is eager to contribute towards that vision. This move by Sharmila has attracted attention as it could have significant implications for the political landscape in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
