YS Sharmila announces to tour across Andhra Pradesh:- Hours after assuming the role of the new president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Sunday, Y S Sharmila, sister of YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, announced her intention to embark on a statewide tour. The purpose of this tour is to connect with the people and strengthen the party's network. The APCC released a schedule on Monday, revealing that Sharmila's tour will commence on Tuesday in Itchapuram, Srikakulam district, near the Odisha border, and conclude on January 31 in Idupulapaya, Kadapa district. During the course of nine days, she plans to visit two to three districts each day, covering all 25 districts. On Tuesday, her itinerary includes Srikakulam, Partvathipuram Manyam, and Vizianagaram districts.

On January 24, she will visit Visakhapatnam, Alluri Sitaramaraju, and Anakapalli districts, followed by Kakinada, Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema, and West Godavari Districts on January 25. Sharmila's tour on January 26 will take her through East Godavari, Eluru, and NTR districts, followed by Krishna, Guntur, and Palnadu districts on January 27, and Bapatla, Prakasam, and Potti Sriramulu Nellore districts on January 28.

Sharmila will embark on a tour of Nandyala and Kadapa districts, where she plans to engage with the locals and assess the state of the party in each district. Additionally, she aims to mobilize the party's members and attract key Congress leaders who have been estranged from the party for the past decade. According to a senior Congress leader who is familiar with the situation, numerous former Congress leaders who were associated with Sharmila's late father, Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, have expressed interest in returning to the party. Sharmila is expected to have discussions with them during her visits.

On a separate note, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, an MLA from Mangalagiri who resigned from the YSR Congress party in December, has already joined the Congress. Furthermore, Kapu Ramachandra Reddy, an MLA from Rayadurgam in Anantapur district, is also likely to join the Congress after meeting with former APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy. Sharmila, who recently assumed the role of PCC president, has announced that the Congress will field candidates in all 175 assembly constituencies and 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in the upcoming elections.
