TDP LS contestant Chandra Sekhar is the richest Candidate:- P Chandra Sekhar, the TDP candidate for the Guntur Lok Sabha seat, has made headlines by revealing his family's assets in his election affidavit. The total value of their movable and immovable assets is a staggering Rs 5,785 crore, potentially making him one of the richest contenders in the current election. According to the affidavit, Chandra Sekhar himself has assets worth Rs 2,448.72 crore, while his wife Sriratna Koneru possesses assets worth Rs 2,343.78 crore, and their children have assets amounting to nearly Rs 1,000 crore. The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) had previously announced that Nakul Nath, son of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, topped the list of the richest candidates in Phase-I of the Lok Sabha polls, with assets worth approximately Rs 717 crore. It is worth noting that Chandra Sekhar's family also has a liability of Rs 1,138 crore to JP Morgan Chase Bank of USA in the form of Line of Credit. Chandra Sekhar's journey, from his humble beginnings in Burripalem village in Andhra Pradesh to his career as a physician teacher at Johns Hopkins University – Sinai Hospital, and his subsequent founding of UWorld, an online learning and study resources platform, is truly remarkable.
In 2005, Chandra Sekhar began his career at the Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. He achieved an impressive 27th rank out of 60,000 students who took the highly competitive EAMCET medical entrance examination (MBBS) in the state. With a strong interest in public service, Chandra Sekhar has been actively involved in supporting various welfare programs of the TDP's NRI wing since 2010. In 2014, he expressed his desire to run for the Lok Sabha elections in the Narasaraopet segment. However, due to political reasons, the TDP decided to give the ticket to R Sambasiva Rao instead. In a joint declaration with his wife, Chandra Sekhar disclosed his assets amounting to Rs 605.57 crore for the US Tax Cycle Year from January 2022 to December 2022. He has investments and shares in multiple US-based companies. Notably, Chandra Sekhar also owns luxurious cars like the Rolls Royce Ghost, Mercedes Benz, and Tesla in the USA. In the upcoming elections, he will be competing against K Venkata Rosaiah of the YSR Congress Party.
