In Women's singles Germany's Angelique Kerber overcame French title winner Maria Sharapova with 7-6, 6-4, 6-4. Seven time champion Roger Federer reached the quarter-finals with victory over Tommy Robredo with 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 and will be meeting Stan Wawrinka in the quarters.
