Dog is known as a man's best friend but in this case the dog didn't know the proverb as it shot its own owner accidentally.

Jumping in excitement, a dog accidentally triggered a gun shooting a bullet through the leg of its owner. Gregory Dale Lanier, the owner of the dog couldn't comprehend that he was shot immediately.

Driving a Ford pickup truck, he put the gun which he assumed to be empty but was in fact loaded, on the center hump of the car floor when his dog was excitedly jumping in the vehicle. He later heard a boom followed by searing heat in the leg. That was when he realized he was shot.

The police in Florida, USA were shocked to the shooting dog story but they could find no other mischief in the issue before they let the case go. The man was indeed very lucky that the gun had not pointed any vital organ in his body while the jumping dog triggered it.
