Flashing a smart phone in your hands makes you feel elite and the onlookers start peeping at your gizmo in wierd fantacy. This was a notion of the past with many mobile companies coming up with economy models, ofcourse due courtesy to the Chinese who have pioneered technology at affordable rates. However the astonishing point made by some researchers at london was that most smart phone users use less than 12 minutes to attend calls and most of the time handle their gizmos for entertainment, says a report in Daily Mail.
The report is a study of 2,000 smartphone users by Samsung prior to its launch of a new model suggests that `British users spend more time surfing the internet, checking social networking sites, playing games and listening to music.' The study concluded that nearly 25 minutes is spent on surfing, 17 minutes on social networking and only 12 minutes on calls and just 10 minutes for texting, per day.
In another individual survey conducted by an UK mobile network the following details came to light. "Smartphones are now being used like a digital 'Swiss Army Knife', replacing possessions like watches, cameras, books and even laptops," The Telegraph quoted David Johnson, General Manager of devices for O2, in the UK, as saying. This survey concluded that smart phones known for their enhanced cameras are used only 3 minutes a day. As per the stats 76 percent said that they had taken photographs with their handsets, 54 percent claimed that they have used it as an alarm and 46 percent as a watch.
The results seem to be proving that the smartphones have become phenomenal in replacing the most essentials in our day-to-day life, like laptops, alarms, watches, calculators, cameras and what not. But wonder why the mobile phones were initially invented, for communicating, ofcourse!! (With inputs from internet- AW AarKay)
