After the launch of Renault Duster India, by the Chennai based Franco-Japanese Renault-Nissan Alliance, the company is all set to serve the French Food Company Danone. As per an official communique released by the company on Thursday at Chennai, Danone has selected the Renault-Nissan Alliance to supply 15,000 vehicles in an exclusive fleet contract. Though this is the first of its kind for the Indian Company, Renault-Nissan Alliance has been serving the foodie in 25 countries for the last five years, say sources.
According to Renault, the French food company fleet can select vehicles from four brands under the Renault-Nissan Alliance: Renault, Dacia, Nissan and Infiniti. Danone will have a single contract with the same services.
The product range stretches from passenger cars in the A to the E segment and commercial vehicles, including electric models. The highest volumes will be in Russia, Mexico and France. The Renault-Nissan Alliance has an automobile plant at Oragadam near Chennai, rolling out Renault and Nissan branded vehicles.
As per sources this plant would produce the vehicles needed for Danone. On the whole Chennai is all set to become the Indian Detroit with Gujarat close on its heels. However insiders feel that the atmosphere in the Tamil Nadu state are at par with the best. (With inputs from internet- AW AarKay)
