The newest and the meanest tablet in the market is the Google Nexus 7 which has been sold hotter than hot cakes on the day of its launch. The already crowded tablet market posed no threats to the number one search engines new tablet. Most retailers have reported that they completely sold out all the stock.
Game Stock had already sold two of its allocations completely and has reported that the third allocation would go on sale in August. Google Nexus 7, developed together by Google and Taiwan's Asustek, is for sale starting at $199 and has been receiving accolades all over the internet.
Google Inc's Nexus 7 tablet is off to an encouraging start, with major retailers running out of the gadgets as the Internet company's first entry in an increasingly crowded market showed up in U.S. stores on Friday.
Sam's club of Wal-Mart Stores Inc and Staples have already listed their websites “Out of Stock” on Friday. The competitor to Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle Fire was indeed a strong contender.
Nexus 7 runs Android 4.1, nicknamed Jelly Bean, an operating system that runs only on Google Nexus 7 for now. Android has become the most popular OS on the smartphones but iOS still continues to dominate the tablet sector. With the number of sales that have been registered it appears that android is going to be on par with iOS, if not dominate it with the launch.
Google's shares have increased 1.1 percent to reach $576.52.
