Tata not to enter airlines industry

Tata Group, which was once a major in civil aviation in the country, has ruled out the possibilities of reentering the airlines industry due to what it calls 'destructive competition. The chairman of Tata Group said Ratan Tata opined airlines was not the same compared to what it was a few decades ago. He even recalled Tata's proposal to enter into an agreement with Singapore Airlines some twenty years ago.

Terming the airlines industry today as something similar to telecom industry, Ratan Tata has said that many operators plunged into the business, which could result in financial crunch. It is learned as to how Kingfisher, which was a major in beverages, has ended up hitting headlines for financial trouble, said observers, who have also said that KF could have alerted some more companies as to how risky civil aviation industry in the country through its financial set back. Anyway, to all those who awaited Tata to reenter airlines industry, this seemed to have come in as a disappointment.
