Hero MotoCorp workers at Gurgaon plant seemed to be not contended as their proposals were not fully accepted by the management, which apparently resulted them to reduce their output/productivity. While the current average salary of workers at Gurgaon plant is Rs. 46,000 per month, the employees union-Hero MotoCorp Workers' Union-demanded a hike of at least Rs.15,000 a month, the management offered a hike of Rs. 7,500 a month to match the hike of other plant workers, who salaries got revised two years ago.
The workers reportedly turned down the offer of the management and said that they would slow down the work on Thursday, which may effect the overall productivity. Currently, on a day, this all the three units roll out 7,000 two-wheelers while this unit manufactures 2,200 two wheelers. Now that the union decided to slow down the work, the production could be hit by at least 30 per cent. It would simply mean that there would be a clear cut work reduction that could be visible. Addressing the media, the workers' union said that they would further hold a meeting with the management on Friday and in case the meeting fails, the employees would further slow down the work. They have even stressed that they were pretty serious about their wage revise demands.
Employees expressing dissatisfaction over current salaries is something, which has been in news for quite sometime. Earlier, Kingfisher Airlines employees too took to roads and even boycotted duties and the same was case with Indian Airlines sometime ago.
