The rupee has been gaining over the dollar since three days and today the rate closed in at Rs 53.67 against the green currency, USD, after it rose 13 paise. Yesterday, the Indian currency gained over 45 paise to go under the Rs 54 mark. Analysts say that extensive sale of the USD has been resulting in the lowered prices.
Sensex had plunged lower early in the morning but it recovered well in the late morning trades. The levels went down to 19,451.26 but later hiked to 19,605.64 going higher 101 points.
Nifty for the first time in almost three months has managed to get above the 6,000 levels giving the nation a sense of psychological strength with the numbers. This might be a responside in anticipation of monetary easing of the RBI.
