Jaguar's much-awaited F-Type was finally launched in India yesterday amidst much bells and whistles at a gala launch event.
Tata Motors' owned Jaguar Land Rover released the two-seater convertible in two variants - the F-Type S, priced at Rs. 1.37 crore, and the F-Type V8S, worth Rs. 1.61 crore (prices ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The F-Type S comes with Jaguar's new 3l V6 supercharged petrol engine that claims to make 380 PS of power, while the top end V8S is charged up by a 5l V8 supercharged petrol that makes 495 PS of power.
The V8S claims to go from 0-100 in flat 4.3 seconds while the F-Type S reaches the same in less than 5 seconds.
Speaking at the launch, Rohit Suri, vice-president, Jaguar Land Rover India, said: "The Jaguar F-Type is our all-new, two-seater sports car and we believe it will be a game changer for the Indian sports car market. With its stunning design and driver focused engineering, this car will further enhance the appeal of our brand and I am confident that it will arouse senses and stir emotions like no other car in India".
Jaguar India has already posted a sales growth of 68% for the first quarter in 2013.
