Twitter, Truecaller join hands

Truecaller, the collaborative phone directory application, announced on Thursday its decision to join hands with Twitter, the social networking site. The decision to form the partnership was made with a view to increase user base.

Following this partnership, users of Truecaller in India will be able to directly connect with a Twitter account and send tweets or follow tweets through Truecaller. Alan Mamedi, the CEO and co-founder of TrueCaller said that the partnership will prove to be great for users in India, who are in the lookout for free, fast and reliable mode of communication.

Truecaller, a mobile application that is free, displays the caller's name even when the number has not been saved in the mobile. Currently the app. is available to users of Blackberry, Apple's iOS, Android, Nokia, Windows Phone and Symbian devices. At present the combined usage of Truecaller and Twitter is available to users of Android, and there are plans to expand the scheme to iOS in 2014.
