Air India, BPCL to be Sold by March 2020:- The Government of India is in plans to sell the two state-run companies Air India and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) by March 2020 said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today. She also revealed that the privatization of Air India and BPCL will help the government to meet its disinvestment target of Rs 1 lakh crores for the current year. The ground realities will play out and they are iin plans to complete the process by next year said Nirmala Sitharaman.
Nirmala Sitharaman clarified that there are a lot of investors who are showing interest in the sale. This is the second bid to sell Air India by the government after it put up 76% stake of Air India for sale last year. Nirmala Sitharaman also said that the government is keen on taking measures to reverse the economic slowdown. This happens at the right time confirmed Nirmala Sitharaman. Many of the balance sheets got increased because of which fresh investors are arriving. Nirmala Sitharaman also said GST collections will take up in some segments.
