Surat Court Sentenced Rahul Gandhi to jail; grants bail:- The Surat Court on thursday sentenced the Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi to jail for two years over "Modi surname” remarks which was filed a criminal defamation case against him in 2019.

Babu Mangukiya, who was the lawyer of Rahul Gandhi told that Gandhi was guilty under Indian Penal Code sections 499 and 500, and also granted him bail and suspended the sentence for 30 days to allow him to appeal in a higher court.

BJP MLA and former minister of Gujarat, Purnesh Modi has filled this criminal defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks “how come all the thieves have Modi as the common surname?”, who was addressing a rally in Karnataka for Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
