Fighter Analysis

Fighter Movie Review, Rating, Story, Cast & Crew

The movie kicks off with a terrorist group devising a major attack on India. We are then introduced to the key characters of the Indian Air Force. The initial interactions among Hrithik, Deepika, and their team were highly entertaining. The training scenes were impressive, especially the emotional conflict between Patty and Rocky. The Operation Bandar episode added to the excitement. The mid-point sequence evoked strong emotions and set the stage for the second half.

The latter half of the film focuses more on the emotional aspect, showcasing how the actions of Air Force officers affect their family lives. The love story between Patty and Minni was well-executed, and the family scenes were captivating. The lead-up to the climax intensified the anticipation, and the final episode was a perfect blend of emotions and action.

Performance

Hrithik Roshan's potential remains untapped, and the vague portrayal of his character hinders his rise as a hero. Disregard the chemistry he shares with his team members; even his connection with Deepika Padukone lacks the strength to evoke any emotions. He could have effortlessly played this role; in fact, he practically did.

It is now evident why Deepika Padukone chose to keep her distance from the film, only making an appearance in the final few days for promotion. Siddharth criminally underutilized her, which is a disservice to such a talented performer. Besides a poorly developed backstory, she contributes nothing significant to the story, leaving many wondering why.

Anil Kapoor does what Anil Kapoor does when given a simple character without any complexity. Karan Singh Grover and Akshay Oberoi, as supporting characters, are merely present to enhance Hrithik Roshan's character. After witnessing Rishabh Sawhney's portrayal as the antagonist, Jim in Pathaan, respect for him grows.

Siddharth Anand has embraced the adage "if it's not broken, don't fix it" quite seriously, but he will soon need to consider the concept of diminishing marginal utility. Not every superstar can carry movies like Shah Rukh Khan, and not every film can replicate the success of War.

Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara make valiant efforts to inject life into dull scenes with a compelling background score, but the visuals overpower and weigh it down. The sudden appearance of songs during crucial moments feels intrusive, as one would expect. None of the songs are remarkable enough to be worth listening to outside the context of the film.

Fighter Final Word

Fighter is a mixed bag as it has several emotional highs and disappointing episodes. The action episodes and the VFX works stand tall.
