Sakshi Malik, who won first bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, won billions of hearts. But in an interview to a leading Bengali daily, the wrestler revealed that her heart has been won by a fellow male wrestler and she is going to get married this year. She did not reveal the name of wrestler.
"I am going to get married this year. However, I can't reveal the name of my would-be husband. That's a secret. He is wrestler," Sakshi told Anandabazar Patrika.
Sakshi added that she will have no problem in pursuing her sporting career after marriage.
"He is very supportive. He sees my dream as his own. I will get a friend after marriage. He will help in my preparation as well. I firmly believe that after marriage I will have no problem in pursuing my sport," Sakshi.
The Haryana girl became the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics when she clinched the bronze in the 58kg category at the Rio Games.
She and Sindhu were the only two medal winners for India at the Rio Olympics. Sakshi had lost 2-9 in the Rio quarter-finals to Russia's Valeriia Koblova in the fifth bout of the day before getting a second chance in repechage when her conqueror reached the final.
She became the first Indian female wrestler to win an Olympics medal after beating Kyrgyzstan's Aisuluu Tynybekova 8-5 in a thrilling match.
