Yummy Food: Crispy Fried Colocasia Leaves Rolls:- Colocasia leaves are very tasty and nutritious. Crispy fried Colocasia leaves rolls is a famous snack across Maharashtra and Gujarat. It is made with a sweet paste of besan with sweet, spicy, sour flavors mixing with colocasia leaves. They should be rolled and steamed. The below are the needed ingredients:
- 8 fresh colocasia leaves
- 1 cup gram flour
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- ½ tsp asafoetida powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 2 tsp dry mango powder
- 5 cloves garlic, peeled, cleaned and grated
- Salt as per taste
- Water as required
- Refined oil for deep frying
Initially wash the colocasia leaves and remove the stalks. Identify the veins and stems that are thicker, harder. Cut them with a knife. Put the grated garlic cloves, gram flour, asafoetida, cumin seed powder, red chilli powder, coriander seed powder, dry mango powder and salt. Add water and mix all the above ingredients together making it a paste.
Place colocasia leaves over a flat surface with veins visible and facing up. Apply the batter back in the same manner. Repeat the process with all the leaves.fold the leaves to create a thick and tight roll. Steam the leaves on medium heat for over 20 minutes and allow them to cool down for 30 minutes. Cut the rolls as per your required slices. Fry them as per your taste and some yummy Crispy fried colocasia leaves rolls will be ready.
