KCR asked the farmers to sow paddy only if they have purchase agreements with the rice millers or the seed companies. KCR cited the Centre's decision behind the move. "What can we do with the stocks that is sown during the rabi when the Centre is not ready to purchase? We will suffer huge losses and the government of Telangana already suffered a loss of Rs 10,000 crores for paddy and maize last year. The Centre failed to fulfil the commitment and more than 5 lakh tonnes of rice is lying in the rice mills from the last rabi season. This is the reason why we have stopped procuring paddy for the upcoming rabi season" told KCR. (Video Source: T News Telugu)
