Snoring is one of the most common conditions of an average person. But it can be fatal if not checked and treated in most of the cases. There's usually a notion in our country that people who snore are the ones who have a sound sleep. To be frank, this isn't true. If you don't believe, then closely observe people close to you who snore. They usually tend to be sleepy and always yawn during day time. This is simply because they don't get proper oxygen when they sleep. Snoring occurs when there's a blockage in respiratory system. It can be in nose or throat.
If a person snores louder and regularly then chances are bright chances for him/her to develop obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Loud snoring can be an alarming sign that the person is going to get OSA. A person with sleep apnea will stop taking air for a couple of seconds (and that's where there will a pause in the sleep). During that break, since oxygen molecules will not be supplied to the brain, people with OSA will most likely to develop diabetes, stroke, obesity, high blood pressure, cardio vascular disease and even heart attack.
So, if you are snoring, it's always advisable to visit your doctor as soon as possible. If you decide to consult your doctor not immediately but in near future, then it's advisable to wear nasal strips till you see a medico.
