Study Says that BP Drugs will Improve Coronavirus Survival Rates

A study was published in the journal Current Atherosclerosis Reports which said that the risk of several coronavirus illnesses and death will get reduced for those patients who are suffering from high blood pressure and those who are taking Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) or Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARB). Vassilios Vassiliou, from UEA's Norwich Medical School, said that all the patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases are at high risk for coronavirus infection. Vassilios Vassiliou said that there was a concern that some of the medications for high blood pressure can make the patients of coronavirus worse.

The researchers came to know that this is case with the patients who are already infected with coronavirus from Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The outcomes of the patients taking antihypertensives are studied and are about getting admitted into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or put on a ventilator and sometimes even death. The government of UK recently announced tougher measures for serious breaches of the restrictions for social distancing will be applied from Friday ahead of the long weekend. Huge fines of 100 pounds will be issued for illegal gatherings and for those who violated the rule twice, a fine of 3200 pounds will be imposed.
