India packed Zimbabwe with 6 wickets win. India took the attacking option today by asking Zimbabwe to bat. Indian bowlers have traditionally played a secondary role to batsmen and now the only team in the tournament to have dismissed all their opponents within 50 overs. Mohammed Shami leads a potent pace attack which includes Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma, while off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been outstanding. Zimbabwe's bowling average is the worst of any team in the tournament. The match will be the last for 29-year-old captain-wicketkeeper Brendan Taylor, who has signed a three-year deal with English county team Nottinghamshire.
Inspired by a brilliant century by Brendan Taylor, Zimbabwe managed to put up a challenging total of 287 before being bowled out in 48.5 overs. Taylor also became the first Zimbabwean to score back-to-back hundreds in a World Cup and the first Zimbabwean to score 400 runs in a World Cup. He now also has the most number of centuries (8) by a Zimbabwean.
The match was spectacular till the end. The score card is as below:
