Team India’s Coach: Anil Kumble Selected As Head Coach, Ravi Shastri As Batting Coach

According to sources India’s legendary spinner Anil Kumble has been assigned as India’s national team coach and Ravi Shastri has been declared as Batting coach after BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) president Anurag Thakur stated that India’s coach would be announced by Thursday night.
Team India, remained without coach since the ICC World Twenty20 after Ravi Shastri’s contract as a team manager ended after the tournament. Recently Sanjay Banger was assigned as India’s coach for the tour to Zimbabwe and BCCI published an advertisement for team India’s Head Coach on June 1 which got the humongous reply of 57 applications both from India and abroad.
Earlier, BCCI’s advisory committee consisting three former cricketers of India, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman had finalized few names for the post of India’s head coach and the list was submitted to the BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke.
According to sources, BCCI will be announcing the decision soon.
Anurag Thakur, current president of Board of Control for Cricket in India, had stated that the team coach would be announced by tonight and now according to the sources Anil Kumble’s name has been finalized as the head coach and Ravi Shastri has been selected as Batting coach.
Sourav Ganguly had said that the committee has not discussed the finalization of coach’s name with India’s One day and T20 captain MS Dhoni and Test captain Virat Kohli, as the committee is empowered to do so.
