IPL's Prize Money Halved:- The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) decided to have a strict cut on the prize money of the Indian Premiere League (IPL). The prize money for this year is said to be halved when compared to last year. BCCI sent a circular to all the IPL franchises about the same. The prize money for this year is said to be Rs 10 crores and not Rs 20 crores. The runners of IPL 2020 will get Rs 6.25 crores and they earlier got Rs 12.5 crores. The two losing qualifiers will get Rs 4.375 crores each.
“The franchises are all in good health. They also have multiple ways like sponsorships to bolster their income. Hence the decision on prize money taken,” said BCCI. Every state association that is hosting IPL games will get Rs 1 crore each with franchises and BCCI will contribute Rs 50 lakhs each. The BCCI employees too will have a cost cut and they would not avail business class flight tickets like they had in the past.
