Covid-19 outbreak in Team India: Three players tested Positive:- The coronavirus pandemic reached Team India after three players are tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday. Three top Indian players Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer are tested positive and they are sent to isolation. The tests are conducted before India's series with West Indies. Four other people including the net bowler Navdeep Saini too are tested for Covid-19. Fielding Coach T Dilip, Security Officer B Lokesh and Masseur Rajeev Kumar are the others who are contracted to coronavirus The Selection Committee conducted a meeting and added Mayank Agarwal for the squad. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah issued an official statement for the same.
Team India is in Ahmedabad and is preparing for the upcoming series with West Indies. All the players are in isolation for three days. The series starts from February 6th. Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer will miss the series as they will be in isolation and they will have to return back after two negative RT-PCR tests. The tests are conducted on Monday and the results were out yesterday. The Medical Team of BCCI is handling the players who are tested positive. They will have to stay in isolation till they recover completely. Ruturaj Gaikwad is tested for coronavirus for the second time in the past one and a half years. Captain Rohit Sharma, coach Rahul Dravid and other players are tested negative on Wednesday.
Everyday RT-PCR tests are conducted before the series commences as per the instructions from the officials of BCCI. M Shahrukh Khan, R Sai Kishore, Rishi Dhawan are the stand byes and they may get into the squad after the three players are tested positive.
