He caused a 4-minute delay as he had an argument with umpires during the CSK Vs GT first qualifier match.

In detail, any bowler who leaves the field for more than eight minutes must be on the field for the same amount of time on the field before proceeding to bowl as per IPL rules. MS Dhoni wanted Matheesha Pathirana to bowl his 16th over in the match and had a conversation with the umpire Chris Gaffaney to eat time at MS Chidambaram stadium, Chennai. Dhoni was informed by the officials that Pathirana has to wait to bowl and then Dhoni started the discussion. After wasting 4 minutes of valuable time Pathirana was allowed to bowl. MS Dhoni was already fined once in this season for breaching the IPL code of conduct due to a slow rate, ESPN reported.
