Scientists Find A Special Chewing Gum That Can Reduce Covid Transmission:- The coronavirus outbreak is unstoppable and the pandemic shattered the lives of crores across the globe. The high transmissibility is the major reason for coronavirus spreading at a faster pace. The virus can spread easily between people. Social distancing has been introduced and the lockdown was implemented. People are asked to wear facemasks to prevent the spread of coronavirus. After the vaccines were developed, normalcy is slowly returning but the scare of coronavirus is yet to completely calm down. The new variants are reaching mankind and the Omicron variant has been threatening the people.
A team of researchers from the University of Pennsylvania have developed a chewing gum that can reduce the transmission of coronavirus from the patient to the other people. The virus gains access to the body cells through a protein called ACE2. The chewing gum has a copy of ACE2 protein inside. It can mimic the body cells and the scientists of the University of Pennsylvania used the trick and made a chewing gum. The patient who is infected with coronavirus will be having a high concentration of coronavirus in his saliva. The saliva samples are collected from coronavirus patients and mixed them with the powdered form of the chewing gum. 50mg of chewing gum has reduced the viral entry by 95 percent told the research. The results are published in the journal Molecular Theraphy.
