Australia posted an impressive victory over New Zealand today at Nagpur in a group A World Cup league match chasing the target of 207 runs in just 35 overs and seven wickets to spare.
Watson and Haddin were out for 62 and 55 runs respectively while Captain Ponting made 12 runs. Clark and White finished the task by pitching in 24 and 22 runs respectively.
Earlier, the pace trio of Australia- Shaun Tait, Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson -breathed fire on New Zealand batsmen and bundled them out for just 206 runs in 45.1 overs after Australia won the toss and put New Zealand to bat.
Though Nathan McCullum and Daniel Vettori revived New Zealand from a downfall of 73 for 6 and took the score to 206 in the end, it was not a strong score against an opponent like Australia. A dangerous Brad Haddin and a flamboyant Shane Watson hit entertaining half-centuries to take Australia home to victory easily.
