Hyderabad Tennis queen and world number 72 Sania Mirza today advanced into the second round of the women’s singles of the French Open with an emphatic 6 -3, 6 -3 win over Kristina Barrois of Germany in her opening round of the tournament in Paris.

 

Sania, who never crossed the jinx of second round of any Grand Slam since 2009, won the game in 75 minutes and will next play the 12th seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland or Patricia Mayr-Achleitner of Austria.

 

While Sania’s best performance in the last six years was her fourth round appearance in the 2005 US Open, her fans in India are eagerly waiting to see her put up best performance in the second and further rounds of the French Open and reach at least finals of the tournament.
