As reports said that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Gautam Gambhir was asked to take rest for 6 weeks at least for nursing his sore shoulders, BCCI said today he will be dropped from the squad that will tour the West Indies if his medical reports say he is medically unfit for the tour.
BCCI secretary N. Srinivasan told journalists in Mumbai that they are examining the medical reports of Gambhir and will take a decision after coming to a conclusion based on the reports.
“But, if the reports say he is not fit, he will be dropped from the team,” said Srinivasan.
It may be mentioned that Gambhir was appointed as the captain of the Indian team that would play the Twenty20 and ODI fixtures in the West Indies tour after asking Mahendra Singh Dhoni to rest.
Gautam Gambhir had injured his shoulder during the final of the World Cup against Sri Lanka in April and he is still having problems with it. In case Gambhir dropped, Suresh Raina will be leading the team in the ODI series starting June 4.
