Indian batsmen failed yet again and finished on a shameful note with defeat at the Oval in the fifth and final Test match against England by an innings and 244 runs. Disgracefully, Indian batsmen were removed under 100 runs and no batsmen tried to stop the English bowlers.
Joe Root was awarded man of the match for his unbeaten century while James Anderson who took maximum wickets in the series was awarded Man of the series award. With this, MS Dhoni as captain lost 14 Tests in overseas becoming the worst captain ever in the Indian cricket history.
Virat Kohli once again failed while Gambhir who made his comeback did not grab the opportunity.
